Winter Clothing Drive for Josephs Coat
Ongoing
Location: Drop Sites are either at Rene’s Home in the Maple Plain/Orono area or Sara’s home in Chaska – email for the drop-off address
Activity: We are excited to announce that this month, we will be partnering with the NonProfit Organization, Josephs Coat, by hosting a Winter Clothing Drive! Josephs Coat is based in St Paul and serves the community’s neediest and often most marginalized members. People of all ages, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, abilities and challenges are welcomed and served. The organization offers essential support to low-income families, the homeless, those living on fixed incomes, the working poor, new immigrants, the unemployed, those recently released from prison, and individuals battling chemical addictions and mental health issues.
Go through your old winter bins with your kiddos or take them shopping to pick things out for kids their age.
Here is what they need:
Clean, stain free FALL & WINTER clothing (less than 5 years old) clothing for men, women and children
WINTER JACKETS, mittens, hats, gloves – for all ages
T-shirts, socks and underwear (without stains please) new or gently used
Outerwear appropriate for the season
Adult backpacks, sleeping bags, duffle bags
Shoes and boots

Brighter Days Grief Center
In-person
Date: Sunday, December 11, 2022
Location: 110 Cheshire Ln #105, Minnetonka, MN 55305
Activity: The Give Back Kids will be painting rocks and creating personal cards for children dealing with grief due to the loss of a close family member (parent, sibling, etc). The significance of the painted rocks is a simple yet meaningful way to let grieving children know that they are not alone. Even though the people decorating the rocks may be strangers, they will know that the person who painted the rock for them cares about them. These children keep them in their pockets, school lockers, backpacks or near their bed 😍
The rocks and cards will then be put into Day Brightener Bags that will be delivered to school counselors so they can provide them to grieving children/families that need our support. Also inside the bag will be age-appropriate resources and gifts for the child as well as resources for the rest of the family. We will be coordinating with the school counselors to tailor the packs to the ages/families.
We are also taking donations of NEW bags/backpacks and gift cards at our event to be used for the Day Brightener Bags. If you can’t make it to the event, you can still donate these items to us and we will make sure Brighter Days receives the items.
We add new events throughout the year. Please continue to check the website for new events. To receive emails about newly added events, subscribe to our newsletter.
